If it’s totally basic to be a fan of everything autumn — cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, and colourful foliage — then hand me the North Face jacket and Ugg boots, ’cause this season I’m saying: #PumpkinEverything.
Fall has to be my favourite season in Saskatoon. So in celebration of Do Sask’s sponsorship with Kings Court Events’ Autumn Extravaganza Trade Show this weekend at Prairieland Park, I’ve come up with a list of all of my favourite things to do this season.
This post will give you 7 fun things to do in and around Saskatoon this fall. From a map of the city’s spooky haunted (& historic) houses, to unique indoor activities that get you out of the chilly weather – you’ll find ideas and events that are outside of the box for your next date night out.

Here are 7 of the best things to do in Saskatoon in the fall:
Warmed Up Wardrobe
That cable-knit cozy feeling is everywhere you look! From your home decor, to entre options – you name it, when it’s fall in Saskatoon “comfortable” is your middle name.
The transition from summer to fall wardrobe pieces is an exciting time for most as they replace their shorts and sunnies with boots and sweaters.
But some locals still won’t let go of their flip flops until Old Man Winter rolls out his white carpet.
Crunchy Fall Fun
From the corn mazes and pumpkin patches that sprinkle Valley Road, to the plethora of unique indoor activities going on all over the city – rake “fun” into a pile and then jump right on in. Some indoor activities on my radar include:
- Microbrewery Tours,
- Axe Throwing,
- Go Karts,
- and a Make Your Own Chocolate class.
Fall Suppers
When it comes to handmade food, fall in Saskatoon delivers on its wide variety of options at church and community suppers. (You don’t have to be religious to celebrate – believe me, you won’t explode into flames upon setting foot in a church hall.)
Whether you’re all about the turkey, or prefer to ham it up you’ll spend next to nothing getting a feast prepared by caring volunteers that want to break bread with their neighbours.
Call me old school, but peanut butter marshmallow squares and grasshopper pie are definitely worth the hassle of checking a community cork board to track down the whereabouts of a Fall supper near you. (Check Do Sask’s private group for a listing.)

Breathtaking Fall Foliage
Have you ever had an eyegasm? Then you probably haven’t looked at the Meewassin River Valley in the middle of autumn. Walk up and down the paths on the banks of the river to catch bright reds, glistening yellows, and gleaming golds as chlorophyll calls it quits for 2017.
Saskatoon’s Historic Places
Everyone knows Spadina Crescent’s lineup from its magnificent impact on our urban landscape. But have you spent time inside the lesser-known historic places that are sprinkled throughout our city?
Fall in Saskatoon brings out the Boomtown sprit that lives on in the little places that give our city so much quaint history. Do Sask partner location, The Hose & Hydrant Pub, used to be a fire station. And this helpful Wiki list gives you even more ideas for places to visit this fall.
With all our centuries-old history comes a generous helping of the paranormal. According to members of our private group, there are plenty of ghost sightings in popular historic locations around town like O’Briens Event Centre, The University of Saskatchewan, and the Delta Bessborough.
Saskatoon Haunted Houses

Autumn Extravaganza Tradeshow
I consider myself a lover of handmade gifts, fresh baking, entrepreneurial spirit and local business. Kings Court Events combines them into Saskatoon weekend trade shows.
Celebrate fall in Saskatoon by supporting a local artisan when you visit the Autumn Extravaganza, this Saturday and Sunday at Prairieland Park. Nearly 100 vendors are on hand with offerings from a variety of makers, crafters, and bakers. There will be swag bags, door-prizes, and, of course, tons of beautiful craft and artisan products.
Saskatoon trade shows are best enjoyed when you plan ahead. So wear comfy shoes (not flip flops — see my first point) and pack a granola bar or two because you may just find a reason to stay a while. (And you’ll likely walk away with a smiling kid who just got the most badass face paint ever. Everyone’s happy!)
